Dr. Robert Jeffress, Host of Pathway to Victory and senior pastor of First Baptist Dallas, released the following statement in response to the mass shooting at First Baptist Church of Sutherland Springs, yesterday, November 5, 2017:

Today’s horrific church shooting is every pastor’s worst nightmare and is proof of the reality of evil. Although the Bible never diminishes the pain of evil, it does promise that one day when Christ returns, evil will be defeated forever. Until that time, we pray that the members of First Baptist Church, Sutherland Springs, will experience the promise of Psalm 34:18: ‘The Lord is close to the broken-hearted.’”

A regular Fox News contributor, Dr. Jeffress joined “Fox and Friends” this morning for an interview in which he spoke out about finding hope and having faith after the Texas church tragedy.

“Faith is believing God is going to do what he has promised to do, and in this situation evil is real, it’s painful. The Bible never diminishes that,” said Jeffress. “But, faith means believing that one day, God is going to overcome evil, and that’s the hope of every Christian … Good will ultimately triumph over evil.”

Some days, evil appears to be winning the battle, but Dr. Jeffress is quick to remind our lost and hurting world that the Good News of Jesus Christ pierces the darkness, and cannot be overcome.
